Donald Leroy Brewster

Funeral services for Donald Le Roy Brewster, 84, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with interment following the services. Brother Gary Forrest will officiate.

Mr. Brewster was born July 14, 1927 in Fargo, North Dakota to the late Sylvester LeRoy and Catherine (Johnson) Brewster, and died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. Brewster served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as Seaman Second Class. He completed mortuary school and was a licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director for 18 years. Mr. Brewster was in Houston, Texas at Landrum's Mortuary College in 1947 during the Texas City Disaster. He was called in to help with the cleanup. At the same time he worked at Foley's Department Store as manager in Housewares. Mr. Brewster met and married his forever soul mate Mary Louise Brookshire on November 22, 1947. During their lifetime together, he worked for Baker Oil Tools in Beaumont, Texas and retired from Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas. In 1971 he began a self-owned business in Lufkin, interior decorating, painting, and paper hanging for 25 years. His various jobs ranged from Memphis, Tennessee to Los Angeles, California. Mr. Brewster retired in 1996. He was proud to say he installed over 40,063 rolls of wallpaper. He had been a mason for more than 50 years, and was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. Mr. Brewster was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Robert Seipel of El Paso; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Alan ""Runt"" and Ruth Brewster of Apple Springs; grandsons, Brandin Brewster and wife Ashley, Patric Seiple and wife Petra, Bradley Brewster and wife Thalia; great-grandchildren, Dustin Brewster, Tori and Taylor Brewster, Harley Robert Seipel and Kylah Jade Brewster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise (Brookshire) Brewster at age 80; and grandson, Jeffrey Donald Seipel at age 19.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Stovall, Lynn Snelson, Don Cryer, John Pouland, Welton Brookshire and Claude Crocker.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
