Rachael Elizabeth Torres

Funeral services for Rachael Elizabeth ""Sissy"" Torres, 27, of Lufkin will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Brother Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.

Rachael was born April 18, 1985 in Lufkin, Texas, and died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in a local hospital. She was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and was employed at the Walmart Bakery. Rachael was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Rachael was a loving mother, daughter and sister, and a great inspiration for the whole family. She has battled illness from the age of 17, but always had a smile and positive attitude. God graced her with a beautiful daughter who carries her spirit. Rachael was also known as ""Rat"" by those who knew of her love of cheese.

Survivors include her daughter, Dixie Riley Torres of Lufkin; parents, Michael and Jeannie (Powell) Torres of Lufkin; sister, Michelle Powell of Lufkin; twin brother and sister-in-law, Robert ""Bubba"" and Darcy Torres of Gulfport, Mississippi; brother, Jacob Torres of Lufkin; grandmother, Simona Torres of Lufkin; nephews and niece, Austin Torres of Gulfport, Mississippi, Maddison Williams and Kolby Williams, both of Houston; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Special thanks are given to Henry and Michelle Torres, Johnny and Mary Torres, and Shelia Torres for their loving care.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Torres, Isreal Cole, Chris Torres, Chet Nance, Larry Torres and William Ross.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Torres, James ""Shorty"" Slaughter, Cliff Davis and Johnny Wayne Davidson.

Memorial contributions to defray funeral expenses may be made at Carroway Funeral Home.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
