Funeral services for Virginia Faye ""Ginger"" Bryan Evans, 65, of Zavalla will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Zavalla First Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. Evans was born September 18, 1946 in San Augustine, Texas to the late Martha ""Bitsy"" (Williams) Bryan and Edward Bryan, and passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at home with her loving family at her bedside.
Mrs. Evans grew up with her father in the U.S. Air Force. She lived in many locations from Guam to Alaska. She met and fell in love with her late husband when she was 15 while residing in Zavalla. She lived in Angelina County most of her life.
Mrs. Evans was a nurse for 35 years and was a practicing RN Nurse Practitioner for Heart to Heart Hospice in Lufkin. She has fought a seven month battle with oral cancer. Mrs. Evans' life was a testimony of her salvation and an inspiration as a mother and a wife to those who follow in her footsteps. She was a beautiful, strong, caring, gentle, loving, nurturing, fun woman with a kind servant's heart. She was respected and loved by her family and anyone who knew her. Mrs. Evans was so proud of her family. She was always supportive and encouraging. She was a faithful servant and active member of Zavalla First Baptist Church, formerly of Alco Baptist Church and Rocky Hill Baptist Church in Huntington.
Those who most cherish her memory are her family: daughter, Tammy Lacey of Zavalla; sons, Tim Evans and wife Ann of Zavalla and Shane Evans and wife Tina of Lufkin; grandchildren, Cody Lacey and wife Tawnee of Lubbock, Chase Lacey of Zavalla, Joshua Evans, Cheyanne Evans, both of Zavalla, Erica Evans and Morgan Evans, both of Lufkin; great-grandson, Eli Lacey, due to be born in May; brother, James Bryan of Hutto; sisters, Connie Varner and husband Larry of Nacogdoches and Cathy Foss and husband Bob of Missouri; sister-in-law, Doris Havard and husband Virgil of Zavalla; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Melton ""Bill"" Evans; and brother, Charles Bryan.
The family extends a very special thank you for all the love and care given by the wonderful people from Heart to Heart Hospice and MD Anderson Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Barry Burch, Tommy Carrell, Butch Baye, Hubert Bryan, J.B. Pickard and Wayne Oliver.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
