Ronnie Rowell

Funeral services for Ronnie ""Poppy"" Rowell, 62, of Lufkin will be held Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Ed Mirabello and Roger Martin officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Rowell was born October 13, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Harold and Lida Mae (Rhodes) Rowell, and died Friday, April 27, 2012 at his residence. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin.

Mr. Rowell received numerous medals, including a ""Purple Heart"", while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked for Brown & Root and Temple Associates as a structural welder. His hobbies were fishing, motorcycles and building fast cars. He was a loving husband and father, and he devoted every available minute to his grandchildren. Mr. Rowell was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Barbara Rowell of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Shelley Rowell and Greg and Ginger Rowell, all of Lufkin; daughter and fiancé, Kimberly Rowell and Kalon Allen of Lufkin; grandchildren, Bailey and Neches Rowell, Hannah, Braden and Zachary Rowell, Kaine and Kaden Allen, Jennah Williams and husband Randy, Jade and Holly Choate; great-grandson, Bentley Pouland; sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and James Johnson of Forrest; niece, Jennifer Stanley and husband Dan of Huntington; mother-in-law, Lula James of Lufkin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Molly James and Elton and Marla James, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Jim Adams of Nacogdoches, Shirley and Ed Mirabello of Etoile and Carolyn Kolb of Lufkin; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Roger Martin, Dwayne Reece, Dan Stanley, Elton James, Travis Barnes and Kevin Crawford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kaine, Kaden, Neches, Zach, Braden, Hannah and Bailey.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
