Frona Davis Lee

Funeral services for Frona Davis Lee, 91, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lee was born May 25, 1920 in the Shawnee Prairie Community, Angelina County, Texas to the late Hamp and Treba (Marshall) Davis, and died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her residence. She grew up in Huntington, Texas, but had resided in Lufkin since 1938. Mrs. Lee was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for 61 years (since March 13, 1951).

Educated in accounting, Mrs. Lee served in the Angelina County District Clerk's office for 12 1/2 years and was then elected Angelina County Treasurer for three consecutive terms, retiring December 31, 1990. She served two years with the Deep East Texas Council of Government and as Treasurer for the Angelina County Employees Credit Union. Mrs. Lee was active in her community, volunteering for many years with the Joe Elliott House, the Salvation Army and Special Olympics. She was a very active and dedicated member of Altrusa International, Inc. of Lufkin.

Mrs. Lee was instrumental in the organization of the Homer Cemetery Association. She chaired the association and was dedicated to the upkeep and preservation of the cemetery, serving as treasurer since the organization began in 1985.

Survivors include her son, Karey Lee and wife Donna of Etoile; daughters, Judy Willis and husband Jim of Cat Spring and Jane Cotie of Conroe; grandchildren, Daron and Lisa Lee of Etoile, Douglas and Kellett Weldon, Sr. of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Jeffrey Perry, Sr. of Cat Spring, Jari Swor of Lufkin, Karianna and David Grant of Pineland, Randy and Shannon Lee of South Riding, Virginia, Rusty and Kim Lee of Woden, and Christian Cotie of Conroe; step-grandson, Craig Willis of Tucson, Arizona; step-granddaughter, Karen and Keith Buchanan of Houston; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lee of Lufkin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Lee; great-grandson, Adam Lee; sisters, Helen Davis, Mae Kirkland, Ruth Davis and Shirley Ann Smith; and brother, Karey Davis.

Pallbearers will be Daron Lee, Jeffrey Perry, Sr., Douglas Weldon, David Grant, Rusty Lee and Randy Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
