Funeral services for Eugene DeWitt ""Ed"" Cox, 82, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Livingston and Brother Jerry Browning officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born December 25, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Edwin Eugene and Dovy Estell (McCray) Cox, and passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Cox served in the U.S. Navy from 1947-1950. He was a firearms enthusiast and owner of Ed's Gun Shop until he retired. His favorite pastime was feeding birds and squirrels in his back yard and enjoying their playful habits. Mr. Cox was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Glenda Cox of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, LaNell and Gary Day, Sr. and Wanda and Troy Smith, all of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Dovy Cox; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rufus Gerald and Edith (Winthrop) Gray.
