Sylvia Walton Ford

Funeral services for Sylvia Walton Ford, 94, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Jim McDonald and Kyle Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ford was born January 6, 1918 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Joseph Everett and Caroline May (McBride) Walton of Groveton. She passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Lufkin. She was married to the late Eugene Ford and resided in Lufkin for the last 65 years.

Mrs. Ford was an active member of the Loop 287 Church of Christ. In 1989, she retired from Trout Elementary School where she had been a librarian for 15 years. Through the years, she was active as a Girl Scout leader for Lufkin Troop 245, a member of Lufkin Pilot Club, Retired Teachers Association, Good Sam Club and the Pineywoods Quilt Guild.

She is survived by her daughter, Bettie Ford of Lufkin; nieces and husbands, Linda Jo and Perry Hayes of Lufkin and Anne and Bob Weedman of Houston; nephew, Wayne Walton of Watchung, New Jersey; great-nephews and spouses, Rodney and Jackie Polk of Lufkin, David and Leah Polk of Los Angeles, California, Nick and Amanda Malone of Lufkin and Josh Weedman of Houston; and great-great-nephew, Austin Polk.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
