Dorothy J. Sullivan Groze

Dorothy J. Sullivan Groze, 64, of Lufkin died Thursday, May 31, 2012 in a local hospital. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Groze was born August 12, 1947 in Timpson, Texas to Louie and Ruby (Bridwell) Sullivan. She worked in food service her whole life. In the early 70s, she and her mother operated The Iceburg on Denman Avenue. In the late 70s they operated The Lunch Box on Peoples Street across from the Paper Mill, where they served many paper mill employees. In 1990 Mrs. Groze was voted Best Cook in Angelina County while working at Fuller's Buffet. She was a loving mother, grandma and great-grandma.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Charles ""Buster"" Groze of Lufkin; sons, Matt Collier and Sean Groze, both of Lufkin; daughters, Teresa Basham of Lufkin, Katrina Kelley and husband Patrick of Huntington and Sharon Slaughter of Lufkin; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Louie (Jr.) and Rhonda Sullivan of Corrigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Ruby Sullivan; son, Louie Joe Collier; grandson, Charles Anthony Slaughter; and granddaughter, Kansas Collier.

The family extends special thanks to the ER staff at Memorial Hospital, the staff of Hospice in the Pines and Amber, her nurse with the ""prettiest shiny shoes"", for the excellent service and care given to her and her family.
