Mark A. Sutton

Memorial services for Mark A. Sutton, 60, of Pollok will be held Friday, June 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Paul Geye officiating. A reception will follow the services at the Angel of Joy Lutheran Church, 4003 Daniel McCall Drive, Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Sutton was born January 25, 1952 in Robinson, Illinois to Marilyn Jayne (Lewis) and Keith Sutton, and died Monday, June 11, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Sutton had resided in Pollok for 30 years. He was a licensed professional counselor and had worked for Angelina County Adult Probation. He had also been the Director of the Human Services Department at Angelina College, and staff psychologist at Rusk State Hospital. Mr. Sutton was a saxophone player and enjoyed jazz music. He was a charter member of the Angel of Joy Lutheran Church where he served as worship leader and participated in Missions.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Juanda Morgan of Pollok; daughters, Krista Sutton Mendez and husband Gabriel of Lufkin and Meghan Sutton Alkins and husband Jamel (Sgt.) of Killeen; son, David Sutton of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Ava Mendez, Milo Mendez, both of Lufkin and Isaiah Alkins of Killeen; father and stepmother, Keith and Martha Sutton of Lufkin; sister, Cynthia Sutton of Ankeny, Iowa; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Bill and Lettie Morgan of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Sutton.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
