Funeral services for Jeffery Lloyd Murphy, 58, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend David L. Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy was born November 2, 1953 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lois (Whittemore) and John B. Murphy. He died Saturday, June 16, 2012 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Murphy had owned and operated Jeff's Truck Repair in Lufkin for 25 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to barbeque for his family's get-togethers. A resident of Lufkin for most of his life, he had also previously lived in Hobbs, New Mexico for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Virginia Murphy of Lufkin; son, Michael Murphy of Lufkin; stepchildren, Tobian Mount of Jerusalem, Israel, Aaron Arnett, Elizabeth Arnett, and Terry Latham, all of Lufkin; six grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and Rita Murphy, Troy Murphy, all of Huntington, and Roy Murphy of Lufkin; sister, Johnnie Murphy of Iowa; niece and husband, Melanie and Kelvin Plemons of Huntington; nephews and wives, Richard Wade and Brandy Murphy of Huntington, Bryan and Pam Creach of Hobbs, New Mexico; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mr. Murphy in death were his parents and a sister, Linda Ann Sneed.
Pallbearers will be Michael Murphy, Bryan Creach, Aaron Arnett, Richard Wade Murphy, Johnny Davidson, Cliff Davis, Kelvin Plemons and Quinton Creach.
Honorary pallbearer is Will Self.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
