Vernece Parrott

Funeral services for Vernece Parrott, 93, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Parrott was born February 7, 1919 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Albert S. and Edna (Eddington) Terry, and died Thursday, July 26, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Parrott had resided at the PineCrest Retirement Community in Lufkin for 12 years. Prior to that she resided in Nacogdoches for 53 years, where she was the office manager at the Nacogdoches Lumber Company as well as Sessions Brothers. She was a member of the Fredonia Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also served on the Finance Committee and as a Greeter. Mrs. Parrott was a past president of the Nacogdoches Altrusa Club International.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynda Kaye Rice of The Woodlands; granddaughter, Kori Layne Rice Upchurch of The Woodlands; great-granddaughter, Juliana Leigh Upchurch of The Woodlands; brothers and sister-in-law, Albert and Doris Terry of Apple Springs and Lee Roy Terry of Lufkin; sister, Mary Lee Taylor of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parrott was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Parrott; son-in-law, Ronald D. Rice; sister, Edwina Terry; and nephew, Terry Bob Taylor.
