Robert Friday

Funeral services for Robert ""Bobby"" Friday, 82, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Friday was born February 8, 1930 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Elizabeth (Garrison) and Joe Tally Friday. He died Thursday, July 26, 2012 in a Lufkin hospice facility.
Mr. Friday was a retired electrical supervisor for the Abitibi Paper Mill following 44 years of service. He had lived in Lufkin all his life. Mr. Friday was an avid football fan and loved to watch football. He played football for the Lufkin High School Panthers and at Kilgore Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University. He was a charter member of the S.P.J.S.T. Club, a longtime member of the Lufkin Dance Club, and a past member of the Pine Squares. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bobbie Friday of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Anne and Joe Ed Eddings of Lufkin; granddaughters, Christine Eddings, Jessica Eddings, both of Lufkin, and Kelly Gonzales and husband Benton of Donie, Texas; great grandson, Braxton Gonzales of Donie, Texas; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mr. Friday in death were his parents; grandparents, Homer and Mattie Garrison; sisters, Mary Coker and Terry Netardus; and brother, Homer Joe Friday.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Allison, Donald Austin, George Scoggin, Jerry Taylor, James Denman and Joe Ed Eddings.
The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and attendants of Hospice in the Pines, with a very special thanks to Helen Boyd.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
