Jennie Lyn Murphey

Graveside services for Jennie Lyn Murphey, 93, of Lufkin will be held Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gann Cemetery with Dr. Walter Futch officiating.
Mrs. Murphey was born June 3, 1919 in Huntington, Texas to the late Denman and Grace (Russell) Powell, and died Sunday, July 22, 2012 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Murphey was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. She retired from J.C. Penney following 43 years of employment. Mrs. Murphey was a volunteer at the Angelina County Senior Citizens Center, and was awarded the Ambassador of the Year Award in 2004 by the Chamber of Commerce. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Glenda Duke and Gayle and Jesse Brooks, all of Lufkin; sons and daughter-in-law, Don Knight and Grant and Shelia Knight, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Randy Duke and wife Leah, Monte Duke, all of Lufkin, Craig Knight and wife Lana of Sour Lake, Debbie Davidson, Knicole Porter and husband Brian, all of Lufkin, and Kameron Cook and husband John of Austin; step-grandchildren, Payton Brooks and wife Jennifer of McKinney and Tammy Simms and husband James of Lufkin; twelve great-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Murphey was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Murphey; and brother, Alvin Glenn Powell.
