Martha Hall

September 13, 1944 — July 28, 2012

Memorial services for Martha Hall of Lufkin will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Jeff Fatheree officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Martha passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 after a short battle with lung cancer at the age of 67 in Lufkin, Texas. She was lovingly cared for by her friends, neighbors and her beloved son, Steve, who was her pride and joy; he was her life. Martha was born in Dublin, Georgia on September 13, 1944 to Edna and Willie Hall. She was proud to call Texas her home since 1977. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Willie Hall; husband, R.D. Hall of Vidalia, Georgia; sisters, Eleanor Sartain and Rebecca Howell; brothers, Woodrow, Theron, Luther and James Hall. Martha leaves behind her son and wife, Steve and Deanna Hall of Lufkin; her grandsons, Colby Lovell, Colton Lovell and Dalton Windham; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and her only cousin, Irene Meeks of Dublin, Georgia.

Martha was known as a doer among her friends. She was the happiest when she was busy, especially doing things for others. Martha gave it her all at everything she did and never waited for anyone to help her. Her favorite past times were fishing, hunting, working in her garden, birds, animals, and just being outdoors. You could always find her in her yard or a neighbor's yard. Mr. Pierce always said that she was the glue that held the neighborhood together. Martha had a special calling to help others all through her life. She leaves behind a memorable mark on all that knew her. She will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Kistler, Dr. Munir Ahmad, Dr. Sidney Roberts, their staffs, and Hospice in the Pines. A special thanks to the many friends and neighbors that cared and did so much for her. Martha wanted to personally thank Patty Saltz, Charlene Pierce, Brenda and Paul Lakey, Mary and Bill Davis, Glenda Lowery, Trish Chambers, and her across-the-miles friends, Lynda Braley, Janiece Richardson, Georgie Mooty, Curtis Previto, Mike Cookston, Barbara Flanders and Family, Linda Basil, and Arnold Barfield for always being there for her. Martha asked that a special thank you be given to Steve's ""breakfast"" friends and the softball players to the Kit McConnico Park for their continued support and kindness throughout his Mother's illness.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Martha's memory to the Humane Society of Angelina County, P.O. box 472, Lufkin, Texas 75902 (936) 639-1880; or to the Women's Shelter Outreach, 2401 Davisville Rd., Lufkin, Texas 75901 (936) 639-1681; or to a church of your choice. Martha always said she could not think of any organizations that were more deserving.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
