Funeral services for Jerald C. ""Jerry"" Lumpkin, 86, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Dr. Charles M. Roberts, Reverend Jeff Moats and Brother Delmon Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Lumpkin was born July 24, 1926 in Louisiana to the late Eunice (Phillips) and Arthur Morris Lumpkin. He died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Lumpkin was a retired self-employed businessman and had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed traveling and fishing. Mr. Lumpkin was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific, Okinawa, and Japan.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lumpkin of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Jerrilyne and Bob Wathey of Phoenix, Arizona, and Linda and Kevin Dixon of Dallas; son, Stephen W. Lumpkin of Midland; five grandchildren, Sean, Chad, Angela, Leigh Ann and Britni; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mr. Lumpkin in death were his parents; his first wife, Robilene; four brothers; and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Jim Lott, Ronnie Lusk, Bob Melton, Gil Watson, Doug Maddux, Don Seelbach, J.L. Bell and Thomas Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are Lester Burks, Elzie Harty, Dan Conley, Cullen Vaughn, James Jones, Karol Green and Bob Waltman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Denman Avenue Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1351, Lufkin, Texas 75902; or to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
