Robert G. Thigpen

Funeral services for Robert G. Thigpen, 71, of Pollok will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother M.L. ""Bud"" Magee, Brother Keith Woolf, Bob Westbrook and Brother Steve Cowart officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Pollok Cemetery.

Mr. Thigpen was born April 10, 1941 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Wallace and Virginia (Pearson) Thigpen, and died Saturday, August 4, 2012 in a local hospital. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Lufkin Industries following 42 years of service. Mr. Thigpen was a lifetime resident of Pollok and a member and deacon of the O'Quinn Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Thigpen of Pollok; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Cynthia Thigpen of Pollok and Brian and Lavonda Thigpen of Lufkin; grandchildren, Amanda and Kyle Anthony, Brittney and C.P. Wade, Ashley and Shane Allen, Emily Finegan and Justin Howell, Taylor and Kelly Thigpen, Tyler Rayburn, Katy Thigpen and Josh LeBlanc, and Emily White; six great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Luther Nallie of Branson, Missouri, Judy Nallie of Pollok and Bennie and Kent Fowler of Pollok; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Thigpen of Colmesneil and Larry and Nita Thigpen of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Rice, Doug Nichols, W.C. Allen, Gene Shoemaker, Bob Holmes and Charles Crouch.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Westbrook, Harold Kirtley and Kenny Modisette.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
