Funeral services for Avery Holland, 67, of Pollok will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Elton Musick and George Nerren officiating. Interment will follow in the Poskey Cemetery.
Mr. Holland was born March 30, 1945 in Angelina County, Texas to Catherine (Skipper) and Uel Avery ""Pat:"" Holland, Sr., and died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in a Tyler hospital. He resided in Angelina County most of his life and was a member of the IBEW Union #479. Mr. Holland had been employed with Alaska Petroleum Contractors for 15 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Holland of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Jarrad and Shelly Holland of Bridge City; daughters, Julie Childers of Pollok and Lori Strickland of Hudson; grandchildren, Hayle, Claire, Gage, Mackenzie, Seth, Zackary, and Riley; sister and brother-in-law, Patrice and Randy Nichols of Pollok; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Marian Cates of Bandera and Allen Ray and Jana Cates of Huntington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Delores Dixon of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Uel Avery ""Pat"" Holland, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Catherine and Ray Cates; father-in-law and mother-in-law, B.D. and Eleanor Dixon; and brother-in-law, Beamon Dixon.
Pallbearers will be Sandy Kirkland, Patrick Nichols, Charles Dixon, David Evans, Stevie Martin and Tommy Cates.
Honorary pallbearer will be Lane Batson.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
