Jesse Earl Jay Cormier

Jesse Earl ""Jay"" Cormier, 75, of Lufkin died Thursday, August 16, 2012 in a Lufkin hospice facility. He was born July 24, 1937 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Addie (Melancon) and Paul Cormier. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the funeral home.

A Mass for His Intentions will be celebrated at a later date. A memorial tree will be planted in his memory at the Monastery of the Infant Jesus.

Mr. Cormier served with the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis and was a Past Post Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1836 from 1975-1976. He retired from Service America after 28 years, was the owner of Jay's Small Engine Repair, co-owner of the Cajun Connection, and author of ""A Country Cajun Cookbook"".

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Karen Prevost Cormier of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Randy Carlin of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Cevin C. and Stephanie Cormier of Mobile, Alabama; grandsons, Christopher Carlin, Jesse Carlin, and Mitchell Carlin and wife Kristi, all of Lufkin; three great-grandchildren; and dear friend David Kaemmerling of Lufkin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904; or to the Monastery of the Infant Jesus, 1501 Lotus Lane, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Remembered for his zest for life and fun, Jay deeply loved his friends and family. An avid fisherman, chef and traveler, his laidback outlook on life was enjoyed and appreciated by everyone around him. His mantra was ""never worry about the things you can't control"". His favorite musician is Hank Williams, and his favorite song goes like this... ""Unless you've made no mistakes in your life, be careful of stones that you throw"".

As Jay would say, ""Hang up""!
