Graveside services with military honors for Ford J. Roddam, 92, of Lufkin will be held Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the McKindree Cemetery with Brother Elton Musick officiating.

Mr. Roddam was born December 11, 1919 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Will and Sally (Jacobs) Roddam, and died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. Roddam was a lifetime resident of Lufkin but loved his farm in Trinity County. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the 32nd Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received in Buna, New Guinea. Mr. Roddam worked for Lufkin Industries and also owned and operated Roddam Tree Service until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kellie Roddam and Scotty Roddam; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Mike Griggs; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Clarence Miller.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Roddam was preceded in death by his wife, Exa Faye Roddam; and daughter, Paula Faye Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Miller, Dusty Miller, Phillip Griggs, Colby Roddam, Forrest Roddam and Crockett Roddam.

The family extends special thanks to his caregivers, Janice Parks and Carolyn Spears.
