Mattie Sue Jones

Funeral services for Mattie Sue Jones, 76, of Hudson, will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Don Loftin and Brother Mark Livingston officiating. Interment will follow in Gann Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born July 11, 1936 in the Clawson Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late Ruby Mae (Fenley) and Lovard Reagan Saxton. She died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She had also owned and managed rental properties. Mrs. Jones was raised by the George Hopper family and had lived in Hudson and Angelina County all her life. On November 3, 2011, she and her husband, James had celebrated 56 years of marriage. Mrs. Jones was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Jones of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Carrell and Sandy Jones of Hudson; daughter, Angela J. Goodson of Hudson; grandson, Jason Carrell Jones; great granddaughters, Jayna Jones and Michaela Jones; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mrs. Jones in death were her parents; two daughters, Ruby Jones and Conternia Lee Jones (stillborn); and granddaughter, Lacy Jean Sterling.
Pallbearers will be Jim Saxton, Roy Carroway, Jr., Kent Weeks, Darrel Richardson, Allen Lovelady and Terry Pitts.
The family extends a special thank you to Hospice in the Pines and her caretaker, Sue King.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
