Funeral services for Kenneth J. West, 71, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Poage and Reverend Roy Carroway, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. West was born June 8, 1941 in Hemphill, Texas to the late Hubert and Minnie (Herrin) West, and died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in a local nursing home. Formerly of Austin and Hemphill, he had resided in Lufkin for four years. Mr. West served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1965 and retired from the City of Austin Water Department. He was a member of the Clawson Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ethlyn West of Lufkin; brother, Johnnie Paul West of Hemphill; sisters, Margie Haiber of San Augustine and Mozell Byley of Hemphill; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. West was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Era Halbert; and sister-in-law, Dosha Halbert.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Arnold, John Napier, Patrick Nethery, Bob Stanford, Cliff Pinckard and Bill Spears.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Bennett, Reverend Clayton McClendon, Reverend Roy Carroway, Sr., and John Wynn.
