Graveside services for Willie Joe ""Bill"" Ragan, 88, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harmony Cemetery in Winnsboro with Reverend Richard Joseph officiating.
Mr. Ragan was born December 31, 1923 in Hopkins County, Texas to the late Charles Edward and Lizze Bell (Wilcox) Ragan, and died Sunday, September 30, 2012 in a local nursing home.
Mr. Ragan had resided in Lufkin since 1987. He retired from the Cargill Grain Co. following 41 years of employment as a truck driver. Mr. Ragan was a member of the Allentown Congregational Methodist Church, and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Mattie Ragan of Center and Joe Glen and Suzy Ragan of Lufkin; grandchildren, Amy Donahoe and husband Steve, Wesley Ragan, all of Lufkin, Steven and Marcie Ragan of San Diego, California, James and Morgan Ragan of Center; great-grandchildren, Christopher Donahoe of Lufkin, Kendal Ragan of San Diego, California and Emily Ragan of Center; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ragan was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (Calvert) Ragan; six brothers; and two sisters.
The family extends special thanks to caregiver, R.V. Horace of Lufkin, and the staffs at Grace Care Center, Castle Pines Health & Rehabilitation, and Heart to Heart Hospice.
