Robert Sweet

Funeral services for Robert Sweet, 76, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Delmer Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Sweet was born May 22, 1936 in Glens Falls, New York, to the late Gladys (Van Schaick) and Myron Sweet. He died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Sweet had been employed with the Chromium Corporation for 15 years as a maintenance supervisor. He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Sweet loved to rebuild cars, and enjoyed feeding his birds and squirrels. He had lived in the Lufkin area for the past 50 years, and was a member of Davisville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vernell Sweet of Lufkin; his children and their spouses, Robbie Sweet, Jr. of Lufkin, Katharine Sweet and Roy Daniel of Diboll, Brian and Sherri Sweet of Huntsville, Gregory and Tammy Sweet of Houston, and Kelly and Todd Morris of Diboll; grandchildren, Michael Toole, Jennifer Bailey, McKayla Sweet, Gabriel Sweet, Seth Morris and Sydney Morris; four great grandchildren; brother, Myron Sweet; sister, Dorothy Parsons; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Greg Sweet, Robbie Sweet, Brian Sweet, Michael Toole, Wayland McCollum, Daniel Holeman, Hank Langston and Brandon McCollum.
The family extends a special thanks to Delishia Hilliard.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
