Funeral services for Willie Mae Cryer, 94, of Zavalla, will be held Monday, October 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.
Mrs. Cryer was born November 6, 1917 in San Augustine County, Texas to the late Vinnie Lou (Flowers) and John Herring. She died Saturday, October 6, 2012 in a Huntington nursing facility.
Mrs. Cryer was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She also had been a self-employed business owner, owning and operating a grocery/gas station and a beauty shop. Mrs. Cryer was a lifelong resident of Zavalla and a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin, Jr. and Gina Cryer of Wildwood, Texas, and George and Mary Cryer of Zavalla; daughter and son-in-law, Ray Nell and Steve Sansom of Gilmer; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Cryer; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Willie Dale Carson; and great grandson, George ""Allen"" Cryer III.
Pallbearers will be Craig Cryer, Calvin Cryer III., Shannon Cryer, Derek Cryer, Dale Carson and George Cryer, Jr.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
