Funeral services for Edgar Lee ""Eddie"" Butler, 61, of Redland will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mr. Butler was born July 22, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Marvin Eugene and Lonie (Williams) Butler, and died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his residence.

A resident of Houston for most of his life, Mr. Butler had resided in Redland for six years. He served in law enforcement for 35 years, including the Houston Police Department, Polk County District Attorney's office, Polk County Sheriff's Department and the Texas State Fire Marshall's office. He had also worked as a Workmen's Comp investigator. Mr. Butler was a Mason, and a member of the Tomball First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Martha Butler of Redland; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda (Butler) and Jeff Burns of Hudson; son, Matthew Butler of Austin; grandson, Jeffery Burns, Jr. of Hudson; step-grandsons, John David Goode of Brownwood and R.J. Grantham of Celeste; sisters and brother-in-law, Imogene and Charles Harding and Betty Crenwelge, all of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Butler, Jeff Burns, Thomas Murphy, Caleb Murphy, Ray Stubbs and Gary Spurger.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Walton, Rick Watson, Michael Farrar, Bob Green, Louis Shipley, Toby Blackshire, Clifford Mosley, Jimmie Kmiec and Glenn Miller.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
