Adelina Salinas Morales

Mass of Christian Burial for Adelina Salinas Morales, 84, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Francis O'Dowd and Father Raymundo Garcia officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited Friday, October 19, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Mrs. Morales was born April 1, 1928 in Rio Grande City, Texas, and died Thursday, October 18, 2012 in a local nursing home. A former resident of Mission, she had resided in Lufkin for 40 years. Mrs. Morales was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Mrs. Morales is the daughter of the late Captain Jose Salinas of the Constitutionalist Army of Mexico and Eriqueta Salinas. She is the widow of PFC Rene Morales, Sr., U.S. Army. Mrs. Morales was a migrant worker of the 1960's during Cesar Chavez's height of the Farm Worker Reformation Movement. She and her family moved to East Texas with the Motivation, Education and Training Program sponsored by Temple Industries in 1969.

Survivors include her grandsons, Joe Morales and wife Amanda, Hector Morales and wife Diana, all of Lufkin, Joey Morales and wife Traci and Jessie Morales and wife Jesslyn, all of Hudson; granddaughter, Christina Lopez and husband Able of Hudson; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Olivia and Raul Rodriguez of Mission.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Rene Morales, Jr. and Joe Morales; sister, Josefa Salinas; and brother, Rojelio Salinas.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday evening following the Rosary at the St. Patrick Catholic Church.
