Funeral services for Audrey Burns Scott, 87, of Pollok will be held Friday, October 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Redtown Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Ross Black and Bonnie Bell Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Bodan Cemetery.
Mrs. Scott was born May 18, 1925 in Rosevine, Texas to the late Bill and Eura (Alford) Burns, and died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at her residence. She had resided in Pollok most of her life.
Mrs. Scott was a supervisor at the Lufkin State School for 25 years and was a member of the Redtown Missionary Baptist Church. She inspired and helped organize the first Little League baseball team in Central.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Van B. Scott III of Pollok and Bill Wayne and Ruth Ann Scott of Morgan Hill, California; grandchildren, Joshua Scott and wife Andrea of Lake Dallas, Jonathan Scott of Morgan Hill, California, Daniel Scott and wife Katherine of Colorado, Christopher Scott, Benjamin Scott, both of Denton, Hannah Scott, Elizabeth Scott and Josiah Scott, all of Morgan Hill, California; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Noah and Ethan Scott, Kassandra and Libby Scott; brother, Bruce Burns of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Dorothy Burns of Texas City; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Van B. Scott, Jr.; sons, James Scott and Joe Scott; sister, Larue Stubblefield; and brother, Ray Burns.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Redtown Missionary Baptist Church, 6634 W State Highway 7, Pollok, Texas 75969.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
