Benegene Gann Kring

Memorial services for Benegene Gann Kring, 68, of Houston will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles M. Roberts and Brother Ron Meadows officiating. Private graveside services will be held in the Whitehouse Cemetery. A ""Celebration of Benegene's Life"" will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Pellazio, 12121 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas.

Benegene was born August 17, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to Berta ""Bert"" (Williams) Gann and Woody Gann. She lost her battle with lobular breast cancer Saturday, October 27, 2012. Benegene earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University, Class of '66. She was a retired geophysicist with ExxonMobil and for most of her geophysical career was based in Houston. Other bases were New Orleans, Louisiana; Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Webridge, Surrey, England; and Denver Colorado.

Benegene had a passion for travel and during her life was fortunate enough to have visited many interesting places in the world. Organizational memberships include the Geophysical Society of Houston and Society of Exploration Geophysicists; Mary Hall Mantooth Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas; National Gann Family Historical Society; and Girl Scout Troop 72, whose members still get together. She was a charter member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

Benegene drew many loving and caring friendships into her life with her generous, compassionate, and joyful spirit. She created an extended family that included professional and long-time friends from all walks of life. This is especially true of her old EDPC co-workers.

Survivors include her father, Woody Gann and wife Charlene of Lufkin; brother, Tom Gann and Vicki Gann of Lufkin; sister, Natalie Crowson and husband Charles ""Chuck"" of Lufkin; niece, Laura Lester and husband Bill of Frisco; nephew, Nathan Gann and wife Crystal of Lufkin; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kate and Will Lester of Frisco and Cason and Cooper Perry of Lufkin; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Berta ""Bert"" (Williams) Gann.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
