Graveside services for Virginia Elizabeth Perkins, 92, of Huntington will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Jonesville Cemetery with Brother Frank Young officiating.
Mrs. Perkins was born January 31, 1920 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to the late Robert and Ethyl (Durham) Carvell. She passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
Mrs. Perkins moved to Texas with her family when she was 10 years old. ""Granny Perkins"" was a loving wife and mother. She always took good care of her family, nursing the sick ones back to health. She was a homemaker and loved being outside tending to her garden and taking care of her chickens. She loved cooking good home-cooked meals for her son Ray, and he would come by on his lunch hour for a visit with Mama and some good ole home cooking. His favorite was her fresh baked bread and pinto beans. Granny was a resident of the Huntington Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she had many friends and caregivers, and was dearly loved by all who knew her. One of her most common sayings was, ""Maybe tomorrow will be a better day"". While we are a little sadder today, we know that Granny is most definitely having a ""Better Day Today in Heaven"".
