Jamie Norton Lund

Funeral services for Jamie Norton Lund, 36, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Lufkin First Assembly with Dr. Delmer Guynes, Dr. Gaylan D. Claunch and Supt. Rick Dubose officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Jamie was born December 31, 1975 in Huntsville, Texas, and died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at her residence.

Jamie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lufkin High School in 1994. She attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, where she also graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education. Jamie excelled in post-graduate linguistics studies at the University of Texas in Arlington while teaching English as a second language to international students.

In 2003, Jamie married her college sweetheart, Danny Lund. God blessed their family with two amazing children. Together, the four of them lived overseas and served the beautiful people of Northern Asia, sacrificing many comforts the average family takes for granted.

Jamie was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, devoted daughter, wonderful big-sister, committed wife, and loving mother.

Ultimately, at the age thirteen, Jamie began to focus her life towards accomplishing the God-given call to make an eternal impact on the lives of her family, friends, and students across the globe. She will forever be remembered as a spiritual trailblazer to those who knew her and to those who will someday be impacted by her life's work.

She is survived by her husband of nine years, Daniel Merlin Lund of Lufkin; son, Caleb Daniel Lund of Lufkin; daughter, Karen Vi Lund of Lufkin; father and mother, Gene and Karen Norton of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Jeremy Yancey of Lufkin; grandmother, Laura Emanis of Lufkin; Bible quiz coach and lifelong friend, Lawrence Purke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members that she loved deeply.

Jamie was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Viola Lund, and father-in-law, Dan Lund.

Pallbearers will be J.R. McDaniel, Josh Brackmann, Mark Lewis, Alvin Vander Leest, Jimmy Ramsey and Jason Soule.
