Jim Sanders

September 6, 1951 — November 17, 2012

Funeral services for Jim Sanders, Jr., 61, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cary Modisett officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Sanders was born September 6, 1951 in Terrell, Texas to Barbara (Wilkins) and James Wesley Sanders, Sr., and died Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Ohio.

Mr. Sanders graduated from Lufkin High School in 1969, where he was a standout athlete in basketball and baseball. He received an athletic scholarship and pitched for the Baylor Bears. He then played semi-pro baseball in Kennewick, Washington for the California Angels Farm Organization. Mr. Sanders received a Bachelor's Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and entered a long and successful career in the trucking and transportation industry, culminating as an Independent Business Owner for Mode Transportation.

Jim never met a stranger. He was friendly and outgoing, and had a big heart. His friends stretched from coast to coast, and he was affectionately known by them as Jimbo, Jimmy, and ""Satch"", in reference to the great pitcher Satchel Page.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Toni Lynn and Keith Light of Dallas; daughters, Jessie Sanders and Natalie Sanders, both of Dallas; grandchildren, Harrison Light and Harper Light; father, Jim Sanders, Sr., of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry Julia and Edward MacDonald of Highland Village; and brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Jana Sanders of Heath.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara L. Sanders.

In this season, we give thanks to our God for letting us have Jim for so long. We take comfort in knowing where he is, and that someday we will see him again when we all get Home.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
