Mabel A. Squyres

Graveside services for Mabel A. Squyres, 82, of Lufkin will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fielder Cemetery with Reverend Bud Bonner officiating.

Mrs. Squyres was born March 15, 1930 in Livingston, Texas to the late Foster and Kate (Thomas) Griggs, and died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in a local nursing home. She had resided in Lufkin since 1948.

Mrs. Squyres was a dedicated homemaker, a great cook, and loved her outside pets. She also loved to have long talks on the phone with her dear friends Betty and Myrtle. Mrs. Squyres was a longtime member of the Homer United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Jack and Charlene Squyres of Lufkin, Jerry Squyres of Lufkin and John Squyres of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Larry Spivey of Lufkin; grandchildren, Christy Squyres, Josh Squyres, Angela Wyckoff, Kimberly Squyres, Mollie Wood, Jennifer Spivey, Megan Spivey and Melanie Spivey; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Squyres, Jr.; brothers, Cecil Roten, Robert Griggs and Tommy Griggs; and sister, Freda Roten.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Powell, Denny Porter, Harold Scroggins and Joe Noel.
