Robert Edward Thompson

Funeral services for Robert Edward Thompson, 72, of Lufkin, formerly of East Moline, Illinois, will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Schroder Mortuary Chapel in Silvis, Illinois with Pastor Scott Culley officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the Grandview Cemetery in Grandview, Iowa. A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lufkin, Texas at a later date.

Mr. Thompson was born July 26, 1940 in Muscatine, Iowa to the late Harry Bruce and Edna (Norris) Thompson, and died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in Lufkin, Texas. He had resided in Lufkin, Texas for one (1) year and retired from Frontier Insurance Adjusters. Mr. Thompson was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his sister, Bettie J. Ahlf of Davenport, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas W. and Barbara Thompson of Lufkin and Stephen B. and Janice Thompson of Camden, Arkansas; and nephews and nieces, Gary Gene Thompson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeffery M. Ahlf of Camden, Arkansas, Tiffany McCarty of Chicago, Illinois, John Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa, Danny Thompson of Boston, Massachusetts, Chad Thompson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gregory B. Thompson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Natlie Dailey of Jessieville, Arkansas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert G. Thompson; and nephews, George Thompson and Travis Thompson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the services at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis, Illinois.
