Sue Roberts

Funeral services for L. Sue Roberts, 78, of Lufkin will be held Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Vaughan and Luther Bolenbarker officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Roberts was born April 4, 1934 in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Lawrence A. and Littie (Vick) Roach, and died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at her residence. She had resided in Lufkin most of her life.

Mrs. Roberts retired from the Lufkin Telephone Exchange after 48 years of service. She was a member of the United States Daughters of 1812, Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Hood's Texas Brigade. She was also a member of the Angelina County Genealogy Club and Home Town Travel Club. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Fourth & Groesbeck Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Vance Roberts of Lufkin; daughter, Debra Kay Roach Jarvis of Krum; great-nieces and spouses, Sabrina and Kevin Lumpkin of Lufkin and Cheri` and Craig Coleman of Diboll; sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie Lea (Hutson) and J.T. McBride of Riverside; nephew and wife, Carey Donald and Bonnie McBride of Rochelle; niece, Sharon Sue Anders of Huntsville; great-nieces, great-nephews and spouses, Camille Cooper of Austin, Jondan and Desiree McBride of Austin, Jason and Vanessa McBride of Kyle, Brandon Cooper of Riverside, Lacy and Dylan Oliver of Winnie, Cody Weisinger of Caldwell, Zachary Lumpkin of Lufkin, Dylan Coleman of Diboll, Daulton Coleman of Diboll, Colton Jarvis of Krum, Owen Grella of Austin, Aaron Grella of Austin, Braxton Oliver of Winnie, and Shane Looney of Austin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Saratha and Clyde Hutson, her ""mama and daddy"" who raised her; sister, Lona Mae Goetzman; brothers, Sonny Roach and James Neal Roach; and nephew, Tommy Harold McBride.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Lumpkin, Cody Weisinger, Craig Coleman, Dylan Coleman, Carey Donald McBride and Shane Looney.

Memorial contributions may be made to Affinity Hospice, 2708 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
