Raquel (Reta) Alvarez

Memorial services for Raquel (Reta) Alvarez, 59, of Huntington will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Pastor Joe Saenz officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Alvarez was born February 11, 1953 in Piedras Negras Coah, Mexico, to the late Maria Tierrablanca, and died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in a local hospital. She had resided in the Lufkin/Huntington area for 33 years.

Mrs. Alvarez was a loving, patient, selfless and very devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with family and had a passionate faith for Jehovah.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Alvaro Alvarez; son and daughter-in-law, Jose and Veronica Alvarez; daughters and sons-in-law, Dalia and Jesus Garcia, Claudia and Shawn Sweetwood, Gabriela and Pedro Buenrostro, Jr., all of Lufkin; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Juan Antonio Reta and Florentino Reta; and sisters, Fina Reta, Velia Reta and Juani Reta.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raul Reta; and stepfather, Florentino Reta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday, prior to the services.
