Dorothy L. Bennett Grillett

Funeral services for Dorothy L. Bennett Grillett, 86, of Central will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Poage officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston.

Mrs. Grillett was born September 18, 1926 in Houston, Texas, and died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at her residence. A former resident of Houston, she had resided in Pollok for 16 years. She was a foster grandparent, and also worked at a daycare. Mrs. Grillett was a member of the Clawson Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Rolland ""Shorty"" and Sue Bowman, Catherine and Murrrell Renfro, Ellen Ruth and Randal Grillett, and Marvin and Crystal Bowman; grandchildren, Linda, Michael, Jerry, Marvin, Rolland Edward, Derrick, Teresa, Shirley, Sheila, Janet, Cathleen, Timothy, Christina, Dorothy, Anthony, Naomi, Chase, and Chance; 42 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Alfred Bennett; husbands, Carlton Bowman, Sr. and Albert ""Blackie"" Grillett; son, Carlton ""Tony"" Bowman, Jr.; daughter, Carolyn ""Red"" Carter; and brothers, Clyde, Clarence, Eddie, John, Gene, and Dudley.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Bowman, Dustin Dorcz, Anthony Grillett, Timothy Delaney, Tony McGarity and Jerry Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stacy McGarity and Michael Richardson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
