Funeral services for Joe Wayne Arriola, 68, of Wells will be held Monday, December 24, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeff Arriola officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.
Mr. Arriola was born May 24, 1944 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Joe A. and Emma Jean (Tillis) Arriola, and died Friday, December 21, 2012 at his residence. A former resident of Lufkin, he had resided in Wells for nine years. Mr. Arriola worked 39 years as a Graphic Arts Supervisor for a grocery business. He was a musician and served as pianist and organist at the Nacogdoches First Assembly of God Church, where he was a lifetime member. He was also known locally for his contributions to charities, benefits, and social gatherings with his musical talents.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Arriola of Wells; daughters, Angela Darlene Arriola Harwell of Alto and Dee Arriola Corley of Wells; grandchildren, Whittney Arriola of Alto, Jerrica Hollis of League City, Bailey Corley of Wells, Kyle Hollis of Alto, Nick Corley of Wells, Hunter Harwell and Preston Martin, both of Alto; great-grandchildren, Briley Wallace of Alto, Jayce Hollis, Paisley Sharp, both of League City, and Drake Wallace of Alto; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Lisa Arriola of Hudson and Jeff and Roseanne Arriola of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Debra King of Nacogdoches; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy and Mark Burns, Nancy and Doug George, all of Nacogdoches; special aunt, Elizabeth Arriola Cook of Nacogdoches; aunt, Eva Hancock of Esto, Florida; uncles and aunt, James Arriola, Henry and Doris Arriola, all of Nacogdoches; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Robert Arriola; special son-in-law, Lance Corley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Erby King; and special first cousin who was like a sister, Carolyn Berry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Stegall, Harvey Grove, Bill Morgan, Paul Skinner, Don Jones, Ronnie M. Taylor, Jamie Keene, Alfred Elliott, Patrick Elliott and John Paul Martin.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
