Funeral services for Willie ""Bill"" Stivers, 72, of Huntington will be held Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Danny Berry officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery.
Mr. Stivers was born September 4, 1940 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Arthur and Ethel (Crocker) Stivers, and died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in a local hospital. He was the last remaining survivor of the Stivers family.
Mr. Stivers resided in Huntington and the Rocky Hill Community most of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Abitibi Paper Mill after 30 years of employment. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Stivers was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Loggins of Huntington, Shelly and Daniel Pitre of Corrigan and Sherry and Danny Berry of Huntington; grandchildren, Richard Clayton Weaver and wife Michelle of Lufkin, Riley Rawlinson of Huntington, Jacee Berry, Royce Berry, both of Huntington and Jacob Pitre of Corrigan; great-grandson, Richard Case Weaver of Lufkin; sister, Susan Henry of Minnesota; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Marie Stivers; and brother, Neal ""Buddy"" Stivers.
Pallbearers will be Danny Berry, Daniel Pitre, James Davis, Steve Childress, Dan Renter and Clayton Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Gresham, Joe Dunn and Robert Hunt.
