Funeral services for Johnnie Wigley Rawls, 101, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Hinsley and Reverend Doug Feazell officiating. Interment will follow in the Gilbert Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Rawls was born September 5, 1911 in Woodville, Texas to Will and Bertha (Hawthorne) Wigley, and died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in a local nursing home. She had resided in Lufkin for 60 years. Mrs. Rawls enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking, and was at one time a distributor of Uncle George's Ribbon Cane Syrup. She was a member of the Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Lessie E. Rawls of Lufkin; grandson and wife, Ron and Sheryl Rawls of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Jan and David Landrum of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Michael Rawls and wife Mallori, Rhonda Rawls, Lauren Maxey and husband Travis, Ethan Landrum and Matthew Landrum; great-great-grandson, Jackson Rawls; sister, Faye Wigley of Woodville; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wilson Rawls.
Pallbearers will be Ron Rawls, David Landrum, Michael Rawls, Ethan Landrum, Matthew Landrum and Travis Maxey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Community Ministries Church Building Fund, 8166 S US Highway 59, Burke, Texas 75941.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
