Ruth Sowell Harris Daily

Funeral services for Ruth Sowell Harris Daily, 87, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Rick Williams officiating. Private family interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Daily was born June 15, 1925 in the Forest Community, Cherokee County, Texas, to the late Myrtle (Bush) and Jessie W. Sowell. She died Sunday, January 13, 2013 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mrs. Daily had been a seamstress for the Moore Chair Company, and retired from the Okay Food Store as a clerk. She graduated from Alto High School in 1941, and in 1943, graduated from Pineywoods Business School. Mrs. Daily was of the Baptist faith and had resided in Lufkin most of her life.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and John Rowin of Lufkin, Linda and Donald Campbell, and Camilla Harris, all of Diboll; grandchildren and spouses, Renae Sargent, Curt and Carol Rowin, Jonnea and Jeff Rike, Alan and Margie Campbell, Carolyn and Dr. Michael Albright, Rayner Harris, David and Kristen Rowin, Neal and Corinna Hall, and Angie and Johnny Moreno; seventeen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Daily was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, E.C. Harris and Ezra Daily; sons, Eddy C. Harris and Richard E. Harris; and brothers, John Sowell and Charles (Pete) Sowell.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home in Lufkin.
