C.F. Getro

Funeral services for C.F. Getro, 84, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.

Mr. Getro was born August 22, 1928 in the Ratcliff Community, Houston County, Texas to the late Gussie and Thena (Pixley) Getro, and died Sunday, January 20, 2013 in a local nursing home. He resided in Lufkin most of his life and retired from Champion Paper Mill following 46 years of employment. Mr. Getro was a longtime member and a Deacon at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Getro of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Bizzell, James and Lynn Getro and Gordon and Virginia Getro, all of Lufkin; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Getro; son, Billy Jack Bizzell, great-grandson, Zachary Stepherson; one brother; and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Lary Bizzell, Danny Bizzell, Scott Getro, Jamie Getro, Steve Knight, Adam Stepherson, Jacob Justus and Brandon Getro.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
