Donald Walters

Services for Donald Walters, 88, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Chaplain Alex Montilla officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Walters was born May 3, 1924 in White City, Texas to the late May Pearl (White) and John Sidney Walters. He died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Walters had lived in Lufkin all of his life, and was a 1941 graduate of Lufkin High School. He was retired from Brown and Root Construction, where he had worked 40 years as a welder, fabricator, construction supervisor and mentor. Mr. Walters was a father-figure to many, loved woodworking and creating presents for loved ones. He also loved to take his family to the lake. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Eloise Craven Walters of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Patsy Walters of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Bill Ragland of Lufkin; grandchildren, Scott Walters of Georgetown, Lisa Shurgot of Monument, Colorado, Kirsten Ragland of Conroe, Corey Snodgrass of Lufkin, Sheryl Walters and Michelle Walters, both of California; twelve great grandchildren, Devin, Kaitlyn, McKenzie, Brandon, Michael, Rachel, Mitchel, Hannah, Taylor, William, Cooper and Rory; great-great grandchild, Ariah; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Peyton Huckabay; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernice Walters and Ellis Walters, and sister, Shirley Labosky.

Pallbearers will be Scott Walters, Charles Craven, Wade Walters, Jim Labosky, Glenn Hornsby and Steve Hornsby.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home in Lufkin.
