Memorial services for Elizabeth ""Lib"" Oviatt, 89, of Lufkin will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Avenue, Dallas, with Reverend Brenda Sol and Reverend Greg Pickens officiating. Private family interment will precede the services in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Oviatt was born October 13, 1923 in Orange, Texas to the late Walter and Katherine (Bisland) McGar, and went to be with her Lord Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Lufkin. A former resident of Dallas, she had resided in Lufkin for four years.

Mrs. Oviatt was the epitome of a graceful southern lady. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and her faith was of utmost importance to her.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Teresa Oviatt of Isle of Palms, South Carolina; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Don Balch of Abilene and Susie and Jay Shands of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Mary Katherine and Cole Cayce, Courtney and Sean Button, Rob, Hill, and Matt Shands, Maclean and McKenzie Oviatt, Lisa and Jason DeFriend; great-grandchildren, Campbell and Will Cayce, Sam and Emma Button, Preston DeFriend; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Frank Welch of Dallas; and nieces and their spouses, Liz and Ed Tirrell and Woo and Trey Caroland.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Robert ""Bob"" Oviatt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rob Shands, Hill Shands, Matt Shands, Cole Cayce, Sean Button and Jason DeFriend.

The family extends special thanks to her special, dedicated caregiver June Frensley, and also Kaye Parrish, Jean Rushing, the loving and caring staff at George Henderson, The Arbor at PineCrest, and the staff of Hospice in the Pines.
