Kenneth L. Hollingsworth

Funeral services for Kenneth L. Hollingsworth, 82, of Huntington will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mr. Hollingsworth was born December 17, 1930 in the Saron Community, Angelina County, Texas to the late David and Friney (Fridell) Hollingsworth, and died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his residence. He was a lifetime resident of Angelina County.

Mr. Hollingsworth served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953, where he earned a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 988, and retired from Southern Pacific following 37 years of employment. Mr. Hollingsworth loved to hunt, and was one of the founders of the Saron Hunting Club. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Hollingsworth of Huntington; son, Ricky Hollingsworth of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Randy Deal of Hudson; grandchildren, Cody Deal, Cady Deal, Heather Hollingsworth and Haley Hollingsworth; sisters and brother-in-law, Avy Chambers of Lufkin and Marie Stanley Miller and Truitt of Huntington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and two brothers-in-law.

Pallbearers will be Darryl Day, Dusty Stringer, James Stanley, Jr., John Allen, Kenneth Windsor and Jimmy Foraker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marlin Quave, Buddy Windsor, Sam Rhodes, Delbert Jones, Glenn Bass and Ernest Day.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
