Funeral services for N.J. ""Blackie"" Bourge, 91, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Francis O'Dowd presiding over the Liturgy of The Word. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Bourge was born April 3, 1921 in Lafayette, Louisiana to the late Esperie (Landry) and Numa Joseph Bourge, Sr., and died Thursday, January 31, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mr. Bourge served in the U.S. Navy and was a supervisor for the Gulf Coast Division of the Natural Gas Pipeline. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a charter member of the Luf-To-Go Good Sam RV Club and a member of the S.P.J.S.T.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Veda Allen Bourge of Lufkin; sisters, Gladys Mayers of Port Arthur and Bernice Bourg of Houma, Louisiana; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arthur Lee and Doris Allen of Lufkin; and a number of special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Dubois; and brother, Ray Bourge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church/School, 2118 Lowry Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901, or a charity of your choice.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral services.
