Memorial services for Dorothy May Hodge, 88, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chestnut Drive Baptist Church with Reverend Blackie Cranford officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Crestview Memorial Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mrs. Hodge was born July 15, 1924 in Russellville, Kentucky. She died peacefully Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Parkwood Place Nursing Home, where her husband is still a resident.
She was married to James Hodge for 18 wonderful years. They are members of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church. Her life had been richly blessed with many wonderful memories of the places she and her beloved husband Jim had visited and the things they had done together. They were married in Toke, Alaska where they began their travels. Mrs. Hodge will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched as she journeyed through this life.
Survivors include her husband, James Hodge of Lufkin; son, Marvin Henderson and wife Cindy of Etoile; daughter, Barbara McArthur and husband Kent of Glade Valley, North Carolina; grandchildren, Bryan Henderson of Lufkin, Scot Henderson of McKinney and Stacy McArthur of Washington, DC; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Hugh Audas of Tyler; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie (Fitzhugh) Audas and James William Audas; brothers, Forrest, Tom, Glen, Virgil and Guy; and sister, Flossie.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial contributions to the Chestnut Drive Baptist Church Building Fund, 1701 S. Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901 or Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
