Tom Lindley Hipps

Memorial services for Tom Lindley Hipps, Jr., 55, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Frankens officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.
Mr. Hipps was born February 28, 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama to Mildred (Bullard) and Tom Hipps, Sr. He died Saturday, May 8, 2010 in the Houston VA Hospital.
Mr. Hipps had resided in Lufkin for more than 32 years. He was employed with Lufkin I.S.D. as a Discipline Coordinator at the A.C.E. Campus for 15 years. Mr. Hipps served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977 and was an Airborne Ranger. He was of the Baptist faith, and attended Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Richard Lee Hipps of Houston, Samantha Hipps of Austin, Stacey and Tony McKnight of Lufkin, and Bart and Stephanie Riley of Lufkin; former wife and dear friend, Betty Riley of Lufkin; best friend and ""brother"" he never had, Scott Sherman and his wife, Midget of Lufkin; grandchildren, Katie McCauley, Jacquelyn McKnight, Quinton McKnight, Madison Riley and Brayden Riley, all of Lufkin; father, Tom L. Hipps, Sr., of Kerrville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Yvonne and Hal Woltner of Vermont, Vickie Gillen of New York, Terri and Chester Harris of Kerrville, and Karen and Dennis Smith of Vermont; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Angelina County Sheriff's Department.
