Ruth Mcclain

Funeral services for Ruth McClain, 88, of Lufkin will be held Friday, September 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with interment following the services. Reverend Horace Fletcher will officiate.

Mrs. McClain was born December 19, 1921 in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Myrtie (Roach) and Garrett Avery Barton, and died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in a local hospital. She resided in Houston most of her life and retired from Continental Airlines following more than 20 years of service. Mrs. McClain had resided in Lufkin for 16 years and attended the Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sister, Betty Due of Lufkin; special friend, Mae Hanvy of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McClain was preceded in death by her husband, James R. McClain; son, Jimmie L. McClain; and brothers, Audie Lee Barton, Lewey Barton, Fred Barton and Neal Barton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. McClain's nephews.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Friday at the funeral home.
