Rene Esteves

Funeral services for Rene Esteves, 57, of Diboll will be held Friday, August 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Deacon Gary Trevino and Brother Paul Mettlen officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Haven Cemetery in Diboll.

Mr. Esteves was born May 18, 1953 in Hidalgo County, Texas to the late Librada (Garcia) and Luciano Esteves. He died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Esteves was a bus driver for the Brazos Transit Company. He had also worked a number of years for Temple-Inland, as well as a welder at Lufkin Industries for 24 years. Mr. Esteves attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, and had lived in Diboll since 1969.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Esteves of Diboll; sons, Marcus Esteves of Diboll, U.S. Army Sgt. Erick Esteves and wife Donnell of Lufkin, Michael Shurley and wife Beverly of Lufkin, and U.S. Army Sgt. Joshua Shurley and wife Jennifer of Killeen; daughter, Clarissa Shurley of Diboll; god daughter, Jamari Handy of Jasper; 11 grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Julia Esteves of Diboll, Rudy and Toni Esteves of Lufkin, and Ruben and Christina Esteves of Diboll; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca and Ramiro Ordaz of Diboll, Rosalinda and Angel Rangel of Lufkin, Rosaura and Guadalupe Torres of Diboll, and Martha and Chris Trejo of Corrigan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Esteves was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Esteves.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Mendez, Esteban Esteves, Luis Garza, Hector Roman, Leroy Tamez and Richie Segura.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
