Funeral services for Bobbie Dhone, 78, of Zavalla will be held Friday, March 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Lanny Parish officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.
Mrs. Dhone was born October 12, 1932 in Beeville, Texas to the late Mildred Louise (Couser) and William W. McMurray, and died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Dhone was a proud and active member in Zavalla's community. Throughout her life she enjoyed participating in various fundraisers to help support those in need as well as Zavalla ISD's athletic department. Her enthusiasm made her always stand out and shine in the stands. It was well known that sports was a hobby, crocheting and cooking were her art. These were second only to her family and those she loved around her. Mrs. Dhone was also a faithful member of the Zavalla Church of Christ.
Mrs. Dhone's family would like to thank Hospice in the Pines, as well as extend our gratitude to Pam Hooks and Lanita Ison for their compassion and loving care. We would also like to say thank you to Barbara Bridges, her dear and devoted friend. She loved you very much.
Survivors include her son, Robert Dhone and daughter-in-law Sylvia of Lufkin; daughter, Cindy Dhone of Zavalla; son, Lee Dhone and daughter-in-law Debra Dhone of Huntington; grandchildren, Ashley ""Nikki"" Dhone, Amanda Dhone, Jessica Dugat, Tyler Dhone, Madison Dhone, Sara Dugat and Ethan Dhone; great-grandson, Caden; brother, James ""Jimbo"" Whitehead of Zavalla; her beloved, Earl Tucker of Zavalla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dhone was preceded in death by her husband, Robert ""Bob"" Dhone; and sister, Betsy Galloway.
Pallbearers will be Tucker Blair, Joe Bridges, Larry Barber, Tim Stanley, Derwood Cravy and Troy Lakey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Tucker and Jimbo Whitehead.
Memorial contributions may be made at the Huntington State Bank branch in Zavalla.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
